ATELIER

To Cynthia Serrano “an atelier is a place where you work with your hands… I could start to explain myself just through the hands, the tools which make my ideas materialize by doing.”

Taller Serra is formed by urban artisans, and even if most are women there are some artisan men as well.

A model of participation, possibilities and opportunities has been generated in Taller Serra.  It emerges from our belief that life itself is like an atelier.

Cynthia’s vision is that each one of her collaborators in Taller Serra grows.  Besides the artisan work, they play a key role in the structural and administrative functionality of the atelier as a company.  Cynthia tells us that: “It is a source of opportunity for all of us that collaborate.  In Taller Serra the dreams and aspirations of those who work here are woven and materialized.”

Taller Serra is also a place of development and inspiration.  We count with the necessary tools, training and support and at the same time we fulfill the goals and rules of the company. “Professional collaboration and growth is the essence and base of our work.  It is a place where you are because you want to be there.  It is our wish and intention that every piece that is made, leaves the atelier heavy with dedication, satisfaction, love and gratefulness for what we do” Cynthia tells us in the teams’ name.

.  “The Atelier is us and it emerges from a very personal dream, of my idea that life is like an atelier”. Cynthia Serrano.

Cynthia Serrano

I was taught to use my hands to express myself.  My mother tells that her grandmother used to say: “Still hands, only in the grave”.

Beautiful and valuable legacy, which for me means the most elemental sign of being alive resides in the hands, in the doing itself.  With my most precious tools, which are my eyes and my hands, I am an artisan, an urban artisan.

I express my vision, my legacy and my surroundings; the latter is one of the largest metropolis in the world: Mexico City.  My greatest passion is, to day by day, just make.  My desire, which I fulfill daily, is to have the privilege to surrender to my work and not only live from it but to BE it.
